About the Authors


Mark A. Fuller is the Vice Chancellor for Advancement at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. From 2009-2018, Dr. Fuller was the Thomas O’Brien Endowed Chair and served as Dean of the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Dr. Fuller’s academic and research interests focus on virtual teamwork, technology-supported learning, and trust and efficacy in technology-mediated environments.

Christoph Schneider is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the IESE Business School at the University of Navarra. Before joining IESE, he was the MBA Associate Director in the Department of Information Systems at City University of Hong Kong. Along with Dr. Valacich, he is a co-author of the leading textbook Information Systems Today, Dr. Schneider’s research interests include human-computer interaction, electronic commerce, and computer-mediated collaboration. His work has appeared in peer reviewed journals including Information Systems Research, Management Information Systems Quarterly, and Management Science.

Christoph Schneider

Joey F. George is the Associate Dean for Research, Professor of Information Systems, and the John D. DeVries Endowed Chair in Business in the Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University. Dr. George received his Ph.D. in Management from the University of California at Irvine. At the time, he owned one of the original IBM PCs on which he typed his dissertation. His research interests focus on deceptive computer-mediated communication, computer-based monitoring, and group support systems. Dr. George is a past president of the Association for Information Systems (AIS). In 2008, he was named a Fellow of AIS. In 2014, he was awarded the AIS LEO Lifetime Achievement Award.

Joey F. George

Joseph (Joe) S. Valacich is the Eller Professor of MIS within the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona. His primary research interests include deception detection, human-computer interaction, data visualization, cybersecurity, and e-business. He has published more than 200 articles in numerous prestigious journals. Dr. Valacich has served on various national task forces designing model curricula for the information systems discipline, including IS ’97, IS 2002, and IS 2010: The Model Curriculum and Guidelines for Undergraduate Degree Programs in Information Systems, where he was Co-Chairperson. Dr. Valacich has been presented numerous teaching, service, and research awards. In 2009, Dr. Valacich was named a Fellow of the Association for Information Systems (2009).
